Blush Ceremony - Covid-Safe

How to ensure you have a magical wedding day during a pandemic

Seize the Day – Don’t lose sight of why you are getting married

Is it to give everyone you have ever met a wonderful experience – partly, but the main focus of a wedding, surely, should be the both of you and the love you have for one another.   There is no rule book (now more than ever) to say you need to invite everyone you have ever known.  With fewer people does it make it less special?  As long as you and your partner are there – you only need to be surrounded by a small number of people to make it memorable.

Make it personal to you and your partner.

If you have children make sure they are included by giving them a special role – ring bearer, handing out confetti/rose petals.  If they are older give them the role of usher, helping seat your guests. Give each guest a special flower/buttonhole. Offer pre-wedding gifts to all your guests when they arrive, masks and hand sanitizer in a pretty gift bag.

Decorating your wedding.

Still include your special decorations, just tailor it back and put the money you have saved towards an anniversary party (when the world opens up again). Have your flowers in artificial so you can keep them forever as a memory and if you choose to have a bigger celebration after the pandemic you have a second opportunity to get dressed up again and include your wedding flowers

If you have had already planned your big day, pre-lockdown, but decided to still go ahead with a smaller number of guests.  Send a little note to everyone who now cannot make it and ask them to return a special wedding wish for you.  Post a wooden heart or blank note for them to write on and return to you.

Help everyone to feel included.

You can live zoom call during the ceremony or have it as a Facebook video after your wedding for distant family and friends to watch and share. Play around with the seating – seat guests in their own bubble.  Create a more inclusive all around shaping of the ceremony chairs.

Make it even more personal.

As there are so few guests you can give a personal note to each guest thanking them for coming and letting them know how important they are to you as a couple.  This could include personalised favours and an advanced invite to the anniversary wedding celebration to take place in the future.
